Red meat & legume tips

The tips below provide practical information to inform purchasing and consumption decisions to boost low intake of legumes in the Australian diet.  

  •   A serve of legumes recommended in the Australian Dietary Guidelines is equivalent to ½ cup of cooked chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans etc. or 2 tbsp of hummus. 

  •   Legumes are important prebiotics and consumption at least twice a week is recommended for gut health(1).
